Kevin Terrier WNBF Pro Rehab Update 2/27/15

Kevin-terrier-wnbf-pro-rehab-3By now the insertion points on my knee has built up scar tissue. This is very uncomfortable. It is limiting my flexion. If you touch one of those spots it radiates to the opposite side of the knee. Combine that with stiffness, tightness and weakness in other parts of the leg and what you get is a funny walking pattern. My body is compensating so my stride is off. I’m walking on the lateral side of my foot to avoid medial pain in the knee. I can’t fully extend the leg in my strides due to the tightness in my quad and calve. A medial glut that is not firing has led to a tight and over active IT band. So thank God it’s finally time for physical therapy.

I walked into PT and was met by my therapist with laser in hand. My session consisted of stretching, and myofascial release by heated laser. Incredible. I wish I had one of these machines at home.

Kevin Terrier WNBF Pro Rehab Update 2/9/15

Kevin-terrier-wnbf-pro-rehab-2The people that know me the best know that I am not one to sit around much. Now don’t get me wrong, when I get (and have earned) the opportunity to relax I FULLY take advantage of it. But I usually spend the majority of my days being at work, running through my schedule, getting my workouts in, keeping up to date and on time with all my task, meetings, etc.

With that said this past week has been tough. Not physically but mentally. I’ve sat around for the most part, finding myself starving to work out and do legs, some cardio, anything lower body that will get me sweating.

By the middle of the week I had enough and went into the gym. Chest and biceps and finished up on the battling ropes. It felt good to be back in the gym. The next day was back and the hand bike. I didn’t know how many days is be able to keep up these alternate forms of cardio. God knows I’m not a big fan of regular cardio. But luckily I didn’t have to keep it up for much longer.

The next day marked a full week since the surgery and my stitches came out. I was told to get on a stationary bike, so I left the Doctors office and headed straight for the gym. Cardio on the bike, Shoulders, and triceps. There were some minor setbacks to start off with but the gym session ended pretty dam good. I’m starting to feel a little normal again.

Physical Therapy starts on Monday. It’s a late start but I had to make sure I got the Physical Therapist that I wanted. I can’t wait to get started so I can get back 100%.

Excuses are for people who didn’t give it their all!!!

Kevin Terrier WNBF Pro Gets Knee Surgery

Kevin-terrier-wnbf-pro-rehab-12015 started off with ALOT of rough patches for me personal, emotional, and physically. But what does not kill you only makes you stronger!!!

One of the rough patches was that I found out I had a torn meniscus (medial and lateral). After talking to the Doctor and some Physical Therapist I opted to get surgery and get it taken care of so I can make my way back to being Kevin “The Pitbull” Terrier we all know, love, and appreciate.

I was nervous as hell because I do not like hospitals and surgeries. But I must say the staff at Mount Sinai Beth Israel made me feel comfortable and were fantastic. My Doctor/surgeon (DR Kastenbaum) was the best and the procedure went well. Now it’s time to start my recovery and rehab.

I’ll will be posting and keeping you all updated throughout the entire process as I make my way back on to stage (yup that’s right, I’m already thinking that far ahead).

Check out the photos of me pre and post-surgery. Also continue to follow me and my progress on the “Road To Success” on FB (Kevin Terrier WNBF Pro), IG (TakeNYC), and my blog on
